Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We've got the views of Paul Farrington - editor of Wiganer Net.

But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.

Who has been your best player this season?

Since Steve Bruce’s arrival in December Chris Kirkland has been back to his best.

Who would you be glad to see the back of?

Julius Aghahowa. Thankfully for us he is leaving for Turkish football next season.

What was your best performance?

The turning point came with the 5-3 win over Blackburn. Marcus Bent got a hat-trick and the belief came back.

And the worst?

The 4-1 defeat to Bolton. It took that for Bruce to really sort out the squad.

Who have been your toughest opponents?

We struggle against the big four but Bruce has stemmed the run of losses.

Best player faced?

Cristiano Ronaldo.

Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

Derby’s appointment of Paul Jewell, followed by their continued downfall and his off-the-field antics.

Your perfect, but realistic signing?

Judging by displays of Wilson Palacios we should sign entire Honduran squad.

Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

If we keep Antonio Valencia, Paul Scharner and Palacios. A top-half finish is not out of the question.

Reasons to be gloomy?

Opposite to cheerful. If we lose our key players we are likely to face another difficult season.

Who will you support in Euro 2008?

Austria, if they pick Scharner. If not then I will be impartial.

Overall assessment of your manager?

Chris Hutchings struggled to get to grips, Bruce was the catalyst. We have averaged top-half form since his arrival.

And overall assessment of your team?

If he can hang on to our key players this summer and perhaps make a few quality additions to the squad we could be the surprise package. A goalscorer is a must, but how many other teams will be saying that!

Marks out of 10?
