Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We've got the views of Gordon Thrower - editor of Knees Up Mother Brown.

But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.

Who has been your best player this season?

Matty Upson, though it’s been hard to judge as just about everyone has been injured.

Who would you be glad to see the back of?

Henri Camara. Possibly the most pointless loan signing in history.

What was your best performance?

3-0 v Reading – a tantalising glimpse of what a first-choice XI might do.

And the worst?

There’s been a few – 4-0 to an average Spurs side was probably the low point.

Who have been your toughest opponents?

Chelsea at our place and Liverpool away – both played us off the park in between dives.

Best player faced?

Kenwyne Jones had a terrifying half.

Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

The away support taking the mickey out of the Pinteresque silences at the Emirates and Old Trafford.

Your perfect, but realistic signing?

A creative midfielder – don’t ask me as our budget seems to be going down faster than Didier Drogba.

Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

I believe Uriah Rennie is about to retire, and surely our injury list cannot be as bad two years running.

Reasons to be gloomy?

I fear that we may not try for the aforementioned creative player the midfield requires.

Who will you support in Euro 2008?

I won’t support anyone. Unless they are playing Germany.

Overall assessment of your manager?

Alan Curbishley steadied ship but sometimes his tactics seemed questionable.

And overall assessment of your team?

An improvement on the beginning of last season but finished poorly. Needs more creativity. And a few weeks without picking up any injuries would be nice.

Marks out of 10?

5.5
