Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We've got the views of lifelong supporter Charles Walford.

But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.

Who has been your best player this season?

Stewart Downing has developed into a very good all-round player.

Who would you be glad to see the back of?

Lee Dong Gook. No heart and not much more ability.

What was your best performance?

Arsenal at home was a good performance, but for me the Man United 2-2 was the best from a purist’s point of view.

And the worst?

The FA Cup quarter-final against Cardiff. Collective bottling on a massive scale.

Who have been your toughest opponents?

A tricky one, as we’ve played well against most of the big teams without always getting the results.

Best player faced?

Mikel Arteta or Fernando Torres.

Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

Lee Dong Gook getting a game in the Premier League.

Your perfect, but realistic signing?

We need a mobile central midfielder. Realistically I suppose Steve Sidwell or Jimmy Bullard.

Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

Tuncay Sanli, Jérémie Aliadière and Afonso Alves took time to get going, but they have a lot of quality.

Reasons to be gloomy?

Who will you support in Euro 2008?

Greece.

Overall assessment of your manager?

Gareth Southgate has made strides but has someties failed to motivate. Next year will be the one on which he’s judged.

And overall assessment of your team?

Frustrating. We have played some sublime football at times, but have too often followed it up with some obscenely inept performances.

Marks out of 10?

6.5
