Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We've got the views of season ticket holder David Blackburn.

But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.

Who has been your best player this season?

Andy O’Brien or Kevin Davies. If it was judged since January then it would be Gary Cahill.

Who would you be glad to see the back of?

Grzegorz Rasiak is no Nicolas Anelka and I hoped for great things of Daniel Braaten.

What was your best performance?

Away to Chelsea, Man Utd at home or away to Bayern in the Uefa Cup.

And the worst?

Wigan away, we lost 1-0, and Aston Villa away, we lost 4-0 and hit an all-time low.

Who have been your toughest opponents?

A surprise choice – Derby. We drew 1-1 away and only won 1-0 at home in injury time.

Best player faced?

Franck Ribéry of Bayern Munich.

Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

Jussi Jaaskelainen trying to catch a Liverpool shot. The ball hit his face and back spin took it over the line.

Your perfect, but realistic signing?

A decent quality striker who can get us approx 20 goals a season. Someone similar to Jason Roberts.

Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

It can’t be any worse than this season (excluding Europe). I hope with a bit of tinkering we can finish in the top half.

Reasons to be gloomy?

I still have my reservations about Gary Megson as the manager.

Who will you support in Euro 2008?

No one.

Overall assessment of your manager?

Megson has had his moments, but a lot of the fans still don’t like him because of his naive tactics.

And overall assessment of your team?

The team let themselves down when they looked like they were going through the motions and couldn’t be bothered. Oh for 11 players to play with the heart and pride of Kevin Davies.

Marks out of 10?
