Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We've got the views of lifelong supporter Russell Lowe.

But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.

Who has been your best player this season?

Seb Larsson. Stellar displays and most potent free kick in division.

Who would you be glad to see the back of?

Apart from the board? I’ve been unimpressed by Gary McSheffrey.

What was your best performance?

Surprisingly there have been a few; Chelsea was a good performance and Liverpool away. Also Spurs at home.

And the worst?

The worst, most hurtful and humiliating was of course our drubbing at Vile Park.

Who have been your toughest opponents?

Again, I have to say Villa (away) - the first team I have seen really take us apart piece by piece.

Best player faced?

Based on pure quality, has to be Ronaldo.

Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

The moment Carson Yeung reached out to shake hands with Sullivan, who duly blanked him!

Your perfect, but realistic signing?

Carlos Cuellar from Rangers, but perfect/realistic side obviously changes after relegation.

Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

A chance to clear out the deadwood.

Reasons to be gloomy?

Relegation, but also another season of broken promises by the board.

Who will you support in Euro 2008?

Sorry, is there a footy tournament on?

Overall assessment of your manager?

Too early to tell, but he has not made much difference compared to Steve Bruce. Ask me again in 12 months!

And overall assessment of your team?

Poor, we clearly didn’t have enough quality for the Premier League. We were shown up on a few occasions, and probably lucky not to take one or two more heavy beatings.

Marks out of 10?
