Ryan Giggs could be out for three weeks after limping off with a hamstring injury during Manchester United's 3-2 win against Celtic on Wednesday. The Wales winger picked up the knock after he was fouled by the Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc, that resulted in a penalty, which Louis Saha converted. "It's very unfortunate for us and Ryan," the United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said yesterday.

Boruc was furious with Giggs, saying: "For me it was never a penalty, so I was angry. I tried not to touch him, and he just dived."

Giggs's team-mate Park Ji-sung was yesterday due to have surgery on his injured ankle ligaments and is likely to be out for three months. It leaves Ferguson short in midfield, although he said of Paul Scholes's performance against Celtic: "The injuries are a blow - but for me, Scholes was the man of the match. His passing won us the game."
