Fulham have signed Netherlands international Urby Emanuelson from AC Milan on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old, successfully converted by Jol from a left-sided defensive player into an attacking midfielder when the two worked together at Ajax, flew into London from AC Milan earlier this week and told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: “I will finish the season with a loan deal.”

Emanuelson, who has fallen out of favour at the Rossoneri, where he made the last of his 20 appearances this season ealier this month, went on: “I have worked in a very good way with him [Jol] at Ajax and am happy as he gave me a chance.

“Martin has a lot of confidence in me and that is what I need right now. At Milan I ended up on the bench. At my age it is important to play week in and week out.”

Fulham have seen injuries deplete their midfield this season, starving star forward Dimitar Berbatov with the service he needs.
