Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Fantasy Premier League double gameweeks do not stop, even if this week’s only sees Leeds and Southampton play twice.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men travel away to Wolves on Friday night and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side host Chelsea in Saturday’s early kick-off.
The two then meet each other at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
Make sure you have the key assets from both in order to finish gameweek 25 with a strong score.
At the same time, remember that we’re expecting a much bigger double gameweek in the next round of fixtures, which is worth planning ahead for.
Watchlist
Danny Ings
Assuming you already own Patrick Bamford, Ings is the other double gameweek forward worth considering. Even if Chelsea away is unlikely to yield returns, Leeds’ defence gives up plenty of chances.
Raphinha
Raphinha’s ownership is steadily climbing after weeks of providing consistent points at a modest price. Now is the time to jump on if you haven’t already. The Leeds attack is reliable enough to navigate practically any set of fixtures.
Stuart Dallas
As mentioned, Leeds’ defending leaves a lot to be desired but Dallas will be a popular pick this week and for good reason. Even when operating as a right-back rather than in midfield, he contributes to the attack, with four goals and three assists to his name this season.
Leandro Trossard
Trossard is something of a tease, always promising more fantasy returns than he ever actually delivers, but back-to-back games against Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion have potential for a Brighton side who consistently post decent attacking metrics.
Timo Werner
Is it finally coming together for Werner? Thomas Tuchel seems to trust him, he has a goal and three fantasy assists in his last three games, and the Southampton defence has been ropey of late.
Captaincy
It’s hard to look anywhere except Leeds. Patrick Bamford is the safe pick. He’s highly-owned and will be well backed. Raphinha is a differential and could be a very powerful one at that if he significantly outperforms his team-mate.
Others are not really worth our consideration. Chelsea’s defensive improvement under Tuchel rules Ings out and of the usual picks, only Bruno Fernandes has a particularly promising fixture against Newcastle.
Clean sheets
Neither Leeds or Southampton are particularly appealing, leaving us to rely on single gameweek teams for defensive points.
Ben Mee’s return from concussion bodes well for Burnley, who are a good bet at home to West Bromwich Albion. Fulham have shown some resilience of late and host Sheffield United, while Manchester City remain the best overall defence by some distance.
Best XI
Pope; Dallas, Shaw, Burn; Salah, Fernandes, Trossard, Raphinha; Werner, Ings, Bamford
