Fantasy football scout tips gameweek 5: Harry Kane, Jack Grealish, Leandro Trossard and more
How many of our picks are in your team?
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Harry Kane
It’s been a long time since Kane was a genuine and reliable fantasy option but three goals and six assists in Tottenham’s first four games suggests that we are seeing a return to the Kane of old.
£10.6m is a very reasonable price for a player of Kane’s calibre and, though opponents West Ham have impressed of late, Tottenham are embarking on a kind four-game run. Kane could well be the best captaincy option in gameweek 8, too.
Leandro Trossard
Trossard has caught many an eye over the last few weeks and has either scored or assisted in all of Brighton’s games except that stunning 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, in which he hit the woodwork three times.
What’s more, Trossard’s ownership is still hovering around the 2% mark, potentially making him a lucrative differential. After this weekend’s M23 derby away at Crystal Palace, home meetings with West Bromwich and Burnley sandwich a trip to Tottenham.
Jack Grealish
After impressing and provoking much debate during the international break, Grealish returns to Premier League action fresh from scoring twice and assisting three more in that remarkable 7-2 victory over Liverpool.
Some 450,000 managers have brought Grealish into their squads in the time since and could be rewarded immediately. Leicester City have already shipped five goals at the King Power in just two games.
Stuart Dallas
Nobody keeps clean sheets anymore apparently, so why not look for defenders who offer something at the other end of the pitch? Dallas is certainly driving forward from left-back as part of Marcelo Bielsa’s fluid system at Leeds.
The Northern Ireland international was unlucky not to score last time out against Manchester City and has started further up the pitch in midfield already this season. Of the remaining £4.5m options, he is worth your consideration.
Rhian Brewster
A playing £4.5m forward is a rare thing in fantasy football but we may finally have one in the form of Rhian Brewster, who sealed his move to Sheffield United during the final days of the transfer window.
Jumping in this early may be a risk, as Chris Wilder could wait to bed the former Liverpool striker in, but a debut at home against Fulham could be perfect for Brewster to hit the ground running.
Honourable mentions: Aaron Ramsdale, Enda Stevens, Raheem Sterling, Heung-Min Son, Chris Wood
