Fantasy football scout tips gameweek 34: Son Heung-Min, Jamie Vardy, Shane Duffy and more
How many of our picks are in your team?
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Son Heung-Min
Fresh from getting the goal against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Son Heung-Min is back in contention with fantasy managers.
Son went five games without an attacking return before scoring the first goal at New White Hart Lane against Crystal Palace.
And with relegated Huddersfield visiting the new ground this weekend, one of either Son or Christian Eriksen appears essential.
Jamie Vardy
While many managers are wildcarding this week, others will wait until several teams play twice next week. For them, Jamie Vardy looks like the best one-week punt.
The Leicester City striker has seven goals in his last six and appears to benefitting from the arrival of Brendan Rodgers at the King Power.
Newcastle United visit the east Midlands on Friday night, having not kept a clean sheet away from home since December.
Victor Camarasa
While eight teams play twice in gameweek 35, Brighton and Cardiff both have a ‘double’ this time around.
In Cardiff’s case, there is little to choose from. Neil Warnock’s relegation-threatened side travel to Burnley before facing Brighton away on Wednesday night.
Victor Camarasa has been the one player worth tracking in south Wales and is another potential one-week punt for those wildcarding next week.
Shane Duffy
Brighton are a much more attractive proposition. They play twice both this week and next, with two home fixtures against Bournemouth and Cardiff up first.
Up front, Glenn Murray could return points but is a rotation risk with two games in the space of a few days. Better to focus on defence.
Shane Duffy is the obvious pick there. The centre-half is a threat from set-pieces, with five goals to his name already this season.
Mathew Ryan
For those tempted to double-up on Brighton both this week and next, goalkeeper Mat Ryan could prove a solid pick.
Brighton have the sixth-best defensive home record in the Premier League - better than that of Manchester United - with 16 goals conceded at the Amex.
Ryan lags behind other budget ‘keepers in terms of save points but there is certainly clean sheet potential against Cardiff, who have scored the fewest goals on the road.
Honourable mentions: Lucas Digne, Lewis Dunk, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Christian Eriksen, Marcus Rashford.
