Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Callum Wilson

Is Callum Wilson the cheap option up front that fantasy managers have spent the season waiting for?

It certainly seemed so on Wednesday night with his goal and assist against Chelsea, which followed a goal and assist against Arsenal two weeks back.

The Bournemouth striker will set you back just £5.9m and has a stretch of favourable fixtures to come, but there are other in-form options who are even cheaper.

Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew of Swansea City is the other bargain front-end option, with four goals in his last seven for a side that seems to have found a new lease of life under Carlos Carvahal.

Swansea’s immediate fixtures are not as enticing as Bournemouth’s but there is cause to fancy the Ghanaian over the next six.

Those who want to spread their funds to midfield may be tempted by the Wilson/Ayew double-up, leaving one space for a top-of-the-range striker and plenty of money to spend in the middle of the park.

Alexis Sanchez

This brings us on nicely to Alexis Sanchez who we are expecting big things from this weekend, even after his less-than-ideal league debut for Manchester United in midweek.

Tottenham Hotspur shackled Sanchez but struggling Huddersfield Town will be hard pressed to do the same, particularly at Old Trafford, having conceded the third-highest total of away goals this season.

Sanchez’s price is high (£11.7m) but his ownership is low (4.1 per cent), meaning a sudden return to form should provide his owners with a significant boost up the rankings.

Ben Chilwell

In defence, a wealth of cheap options are cropping up as several sides outside the top six enjoy relatively favourable schedules over the next few weeks.

Leicester City are one such side and young Ben Chilwell appears to superceded Christian Fuchs as Claude Puel’s first-choice left back at the King Power Stadium.

If Chilwell can keep his place it will be good news for fantasy managers. The 21-year-old is priced at just £4.3m.

Ahmed Hegazi

Alan Pardew is not known for tightening up at the back, but his defensive record at West Bromwich Albion so far has been fairly impressive given the calibre of opponent his side have come up against.

Aside from a trip to Stamford Bridge in the next round of fixtures, West Bromwich will be up against fellow ‘bottom fourteen’ teams until gameweek 34, so we are predicting a handful of clean sheets between now and then.

Ahmed Hegazi is the cheapest route into their backline at £4.6m, though Craig Dawson might tempt others at just £0.2m more.

Theo Walcott

Another tip that takes a slightly long-term view. Theo Walcott’s brace against Leicester on Wednesday night suggested to us he could be quite useful in his role on the right flank at Everton.

Our old mid-priced midfield assets with attacking potential have tailed off a little in recent weeks. Walcott could offer a route back to those points, especially with some kind fixtures to come.

Before that, this weekend, he goes back to the Emirates. Could it be a goalscoring return?
