Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Marcus Rashford

Owners of Harry Kane were dealt a blow earlier this week with the news that the Tottenham Hotspur striker will be out until March with an ankle injury, but one of his international team-mates offers a cheap, in-form alternative.

Marcus Rashford's ownership has shot up since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment at Manchester United and his winning goal against Tottenham last weekend only attracted more suitors.

United have two consecutive home games up next, with Brighton visiting on Saturday before Burnley in fortnight's time. Rashford appears to be Solskjaer's first choice up front and will fancy his chances against two bottom-half sides.

Dele Alli

While Rashford's ownership has climbed of late, Dele Alli's has stayed extremely low throughout the season, presumably because other Tottenham players have been more appealing.

However, with Kane and Heung-Min Son now medium-term absentees, Alli is back on our radar and could excel over a favourable run of fixtures, especially if he becomes the focal point for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Tottenham travel to Fulham's Craven Cottage on Sunday before three consecutive home matches against Watford, Newcastle United and Leicester City.

Leroy Sané

On paper, this weekend's biggest mismatch should be at the John Smith's Stadium where newly managerless Huddersfield Town entertain a Manchester City side that have scored 19 goals in their last three games.

Pep Guardiola's tendency to rotate can make selecting City assets difficult at times and even when they play they have a tendency to share the points around, but Leroy Sané is proving to be relaticely reliable.

The winger has returned in each of his last two outings and was in excellent form before City's Christmas slump. The only worry is the return of Benjamin Mendy, who often plays ahead of Sané and is expected to be back from a knee injury in February.

Jose Holebas

Watford's early season form may be a distant memory now but Javi Gracia's side still carry fantasy potential, particularly in the form of full-back Jose Holebas.

The former Greece international has provided attacking potential down Watford's left flank all season long, scoring three goals and providing six assists, setting up Craig Cathcart at Crystal Palace last Saturday.

Burnley visit Vicarage Road this weekend, having failed to register a shot on target despite beating Fulham 2-1 last time out. Sean Dyche's strugglers have started to show signs of life but Holebas and his team-mates will still fancy their chances of a result to-nil.

Jan Bednarek

Staying in defence, if Holebas' £4.8m price tag is too high then you could always dig right to the bottom of the bargain bucket and sign Southampton's Jan Bednarek.

Buyers cannot expect much for their £3.9m, but any starting player at such a low price should not be casually dismissed and Bednarek has a fair chance of collecting points over the coming weeks.

Southampton have one of the top-flight's kinder upcoming schedules, with Everton and Crystal Palace visiting St Mary's in the next two gameweeks. A trip to Burnley's Turf Moor follows before Cardiff City visit the south coast.

Honourable mentions: Ben Foster, Luke Shaw, Matt Doherty, Paul Pogba, Roberto Firmino
