Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Alexandre Lacazette

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was very much the flavour of the week, seeing more price rises than points, and remains an excellent choice ahead of this weekend's meeting with Huddersfield Town.

At £1.6m cheaper, however, Alexandre Lacazette should not be ignored, especially if he is restored to the starting line-up for Arsenal's forthcoming run of favourable fixtures.

Lacazette scored in the north London derby and was a shade unlucky not to be awarded Marcos Rojo's goal at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Lukasz Fabianski

Even with just one clean sheet in his last nine outings, Lukasz Fabianski is quickly emerging as the goalkeeper of choice over the festive period.

West Ham's fixtures over the coming weeks are excellent and promise clean sheets, though Fabianski also carries potential of save points when he does concede.

Crystal Palace visit the London Stadium this weekend, who have only scored 11 times this season - the second-lowest total in the league.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

An ankle injury to Joe Gomez was the only sour note for Liverpool on their testing but triumphant night at Turf Moor.

Gomez appears likely to miss up to six weeks with a fractured leg, which opens the door to regular starts for Dejan Lovren and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold's attacking threat down the right flank, for just £5.3m, offers a cheap and reliable alternative to those managers who have Andy Robertson.

Callum Paterson

Southampton's new manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, makes his Premier League at Cardiff City on Saturday with much work to do.

If Hasenhuttl manages to turn Southampton's wretched form around, some members of their squad may begin to turn our heads.

Until then, their opponents are a better bet and Cardiff's Callum Paterson deserves to be recognised, offering points from midfield at a low price.

Honourable mentions: Sead Kolasinac, Lucas Digne, Felipe Anderson, Glenn Murray, Salomon Rondon.
