Fan's Eye View: Manchester United
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. And the worst? Goalless draws at home to Everton, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers in the League were unacceptable. Goalless draws away at Birmingham City and Crystal Palace were also pivotal as we started to fall behind the leaders. The draw at home to Exeter in the FA Cup was also embarrassing.
Who was your team's best player last season? Gabriel Heinze - the left-back was a bargain for £7m. His arrival was a breath of fresh air to our defence. He gave Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo the freedom to push forward.
And the most underrated? Alan Smith or Quinton Fortune. Smith was underused here.
What was the most memorable moment from last season? Ending Arsenal's unbeaten run of what would have been 50 Premiership games at Old Trafford in October was special. We won 2-0 and Ruud van Nistelrooy got sweet revenge from the penalty spot. Coming from behind to beat Arsenal 4-2 in their own back garden in December was one of the best games in the history of the Premiership.
And the funniest? John O'Shea's reaction to scoring against the Gunners in the 4-2 win was priceless! He didn't know what to do with himself! Tal Ben Haim's reaction to Wayne Rooney's supposed shove in the face was pantomime!
Best individual performance against you? Brad Freidel in our 1-1 draw at Ewood Park. He single-handedly earned his side a point.
Best set of fans, besides your own? Newcastle United or West Brom.
Best chant? (To the tune of You are my Sunshine): "You are my Solskjaer, My Ole Solskjaer, You make me happy, When skies are grey, And Alan Shearer, Was much dearer, So please don't take, My Solskjaer, away.
Which of your young players has impressed you? People don't realise our squad is brimming with young players such as Ronaldo, Darren Fletcher, Rooney, O'Shea, Wes Brown - they're always improving. Players to look out for in the future include our Italian striker Giuseppe Rossi, the young Irishman Paul McShane and Chris Eagles.
If you had to put £1m on where your team finishes, where would you say? My heart says we will win the League but my head says we will finish second behind Chelsea.
Can you sum up manager Sir Alex Ferguson in three words?
An absolute legend
