Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Sam Allardyce will hope to continue his side’s resurgence in the Premier League following his appointment as Everton manager last month. The Toffees have picked up 10 points from their last 4 games, with the in-form Wayne Rooney now sitting on 9 goals for the season.
Swansea City will instead be desperate to turn around their recent form. Paul Clement’s side have mustered 4 points from their last 5 games (W1D1L3), leaving them 4 points adrift from safety, albeit having played one game less than 17th placed Stoke City.
Cuco Martina and Jonjoe Kenny will continue to deputise for injured full backs Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman. In midfield Ross Barkley continues his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury sustained in August.
Clement’s side have no injury concerns of note, and will be keen for Wilfried Bony to rediscover his goalscoring touch that saw him notch 17 goals in 34 appearances for the Swans in the 2013-14 season, with the Ivorian struggling for goals in his most recent stint at the club.
Sam Allardyce will be eager to avoid a potential banana skin against the league’s bottom side, and with his team hosting Chelsea next in the league; will know the importance of picking up 3 points against the Swans which would see his side climb to 9th in the table.
What time does it start?

Where can I watch it?
The game will be shown on Sky Sports.
It’s a big game for…
Renato Sanches. The Bayern Munich loanee has struggled for form since his move to Swansea and has found himself out of the two previous matchday squads under Paul Clement. The combative 20 year old midfielder has undoubted ability but has also displayed a lack of consistency in his game that will do little to ease relegation fears amongst Swansea supporters.
Best stat...
Swansea City have registered 150 shots this season, the lowest in the top flight this season.
Player to watch…
Yannick Bolasie. Should the Congolese winger make an appearance off the bench, it will be his first since rupturing knee ligaments in December 2016. Allardyce has already stated that the winger’s attributes will be a real asset to his side’s revival in the league, providing pace and dynamism in an attack that has offered little all season. Bolasie’s presence out wide will aid the promising Calvert-Lewin, who has shown flashes of his potential as a centre-forward but is yet to display consistency at the top level.
