Everton delivered another big blow to Chelsea's hopes of retaining their Premier League title with a 3-1 victory over the champions at Goodison Park.

Three goals from substitute Steven Naismith – coming from a header, a left-footed effort and a right-footed shot – gave the Toffees and impressive victory, with Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic scoring the consolation for the Blues that was brilliant in itself.

Naismith started the match on the substitutes’ bench, but was introduced early in the first half when Muhamed Besic picked up an injury that ended his afternoon.

But the introduction of Naismith proved pivotal, with the Scotland international making his mark felt with a headed opener in the 17th minute before scoring the second just five minutes later.

Matic replied before the break to give Chelsea hope, but the likes of Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro were failing to have any impact and Naismith put the game beyond the Blues as he completed his hat-trick eight minutes from time.
