Your support makes all the difference.England’s Euro 2020 hopes sustained a serious blow this week with the news that captain Harry Kane faces an anxious race to be fit for the tournament.
Kane suffered a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring during the 1-0 Premier League defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day and specialists advised an operation was needed.
Kane will now also miss England’s friendlies against Italy and Denmark at the end of March while there are fears his rehabilitation could see him miss most of April, too. He is not the only England player to suffer a serious long-term injury over the festive period, with Tom Heaton ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.
Meanwhile several other England players have been desperately struggling for form in recent weeks, while others – such as James Maddison, Jack Grealish and Danny Ings – have all boosted their hopes with a string of impressive performances.
So how has the festive period impacted upon Gareth Southgate’s plans for the tournament? With Euro 2020 now only six months away, we take a look at the players most likely to make his 23-man squad.
Check the above gallery to see the England players we consider most likely to win a place in Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad.
