Doctors give Ireland all-clear following cup match scare

Hospital tests have established that Manchester City's Stephen Ireland has suffered no serious medical problem, despite the midfielder being taken from the club's Carling Cup game against Fulham in an ambulance on Wednesday.

Ireland was kept at Manchester's Wythenshawe Hospital until early yesterday morning, having been forced to leave the pitch during City's 2-1 win complaining of dizziness and feeling unwell. The 23-year-old missed City's light warm-down yesterday and will not train today. But with the club not due to play until Monday night, he will have two days' training and could be fit for the visit of West Ham.

Ireland has been one of City's outstanding players over the last 18 months, retaining his place despite the influx of expensive signings.

Police will take no action against City's Craig Bellamy for pushing a Manchester United fan after the supporter had run on to the field at the end of Sunday's derby game at Old Trafford. Officers said no one had registered a complaint with them.
