The 21-year-old suffered ligament damage in his right ankle during last week’s Merseyside derby, following a late tackle by Everton’s Ramiro Funes Mori.
Origi, who has established himself in Jürgen Klopp’s first-team plans recently with an impressive run of form, is expected to miss the remainder of his club’s season, with Liverpool hoping to reach the Europa League final in Basel.
The Belgium international should, however, return in enough time to be considered for selection by his country at this summer’s European Championships in France.
Belgium’s first pre-tournament warm-up game comes against Switzerland on 28 May, with further friendlies against Finland and Norway planned before their opening group stage match with Italy on 13 June.
Origi’s participation in the tournament initially seemed threatened by the injury but the former Lille player, who came to prominence during the 2010 World Cup, could now join feature in Marc Wilmots’ squad.
The youngster had scored five goals in five games prior to his ankle problem, overtaking compatriot Christian Benteke in the pecking order at Anfield.
Liverpool have travelled to Villarreal for Thursday night's Europa League semi-final first leg.
