From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It may not be seen at Stamford Bridge any more because of a banning order, but Chelsea fans certainly love to bring out the celery when celebrating.

Banned from matches because of the rude lyrics and disruption it causes on the pitch, the much-loved tradition can still be seen when groups of Chelsea fans gather at away games and in Europe.

The victory parade around west London was no different and as thousands lined the streets, the vegetable was prominently on show.

One Chelsea player new to these shores probably didn't know too much about the tradition before he arrived - but he was clearly loving it on the open-top bus parade.

Diego Costa, who has been instrumental for Chelsea this season, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League this season, was in the thick of the action, giving as good as he got with the celery (via Chelsea's Twitter and Vine accounts)

Costa was clearly getting his eye in for hitting the target more next season.
