Crystal Palace host Manchester United this evening in a clash of pivotal importance for both sides. As Manchester United look to reclaim second place from Liverpool, Palace will be hoping they can secure an unexpected three points to climb out of the bottom free. Follow all the live action below.

Preview:

Palace have not beaten United in top flight football in over 27 years, and the current injury crisis at Selhurst Park will far from aid their cause to end this barren run. A seemingly endless injury list including the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Wilfried Zaha, Ruben Loftus-Cheek as well as six other first team players has seen Palace’s resurgence halted sharply, and with 10 games remaining of the 2017/18 campaign, they are 18th in the table with 27 Premier League points.

United have enjoyed a more successful patch of recent form than their opponents in this Monday night clash, with Mourinho overseeing a 0-0 draw away to Sevilla in the Champions League last-16, whilst also masterminding a vital victory against his previous employers, Chelsea, in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford last weekend.

From a perspective of comparison, this Premier League clash is of immeasurable importance to Roy Hodgson’s side, with a win potentially lifting them as high as 14th in the table. For Mourinho’s side, they will view the game as a springboard for cementing their Champions League qualification, with three points lifting them nine clear of Chelsea who are fifth.

What time does it start?

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United kicks off at 20.00pm

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League from 20.00.

It’s a big game for...

Romelu Lukaku: Manchester United’s Belgian striker defied his critics in last weekend’s victory over Chelsea, with a rare goal against ‘top-six’ opposition. Lukaku put in a commanding performance at Old Trafford, and Monday’s clash against Palace will be a telling indicator if the Belgian has the potential to follow up his goal-scoring achievements with another vital contribution, this time at Selhurst Park.

Best Stat…

Crystal Palace have not won any of their 17 Premier League meetings with Manchester United (D3, L14) – a Premier League record for the most games against an opponent without winning.

Remember when…

Eric Cantona’s Kung Fu Kick: 25th January 1995. Eric Cantona took a disliking to the musings of a fan in the crowd at Selhurst Park, and famously kicked the fan in the face whilst in the crowd. Cantona received a nine month football ban for the incident.

Player to watch…

Anthony Martial. Manchester United’s French forward could be set to make a considerable impact at Selhurt Park on Monday night, with Martial potentially starting on the bench. If he does, Mourinho will be hopeful of a goalscoring return, with Martial having been involved in a league-high six goals as a substitute in 2017/18.

76 mins: GOAL! CRYSTAL PALACE 2 MANCHESTER UNITED 2:

There's the equaliser! Just when it looked as though it was going to be one of those nights for Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku brings them level! The home side thought they had got away with another one when Alexis Sanchez's shot had looped up high off a sliding defender and on to the crossbar. but that was reckoning without a poacher of Lukaku's quality. First to the rebound, the Belgian controlled before turning away from Patrick van Aanholt and slamming in a low effort at the near post. It's anyone's game now!

77 mins: Brilliant save from David de Gea! Christian Benteke looked to have headed Palace back into an immediate lead, but his downward effort was expertly clawed out one-handed by the Manchester United goalkeeper. It's gripping stuff at Selhurst Park!

80 mins: Roy Hodgson makes his first change of the night. Jeffrey Schlupp hasn't been able to last the full 90 minutes on his return from injury but he's done pretty well. Dutch defender Jairo Riedewald takes over for the final stages of this one.

85 mins: Jose Mourinho leaps from his seat in the dugout to protest against the awarding of a foul on Christian Benteke in a dangerous position and promptly falls over. For once, the Manchester United manager can see the funny side of things. He won't be laughing, however, if Palace make his side pay from this set-piece.

Thankfully for Jose, they don't.

89 mins: A superb defensive header by Smalling inside his own six-yard box denies Benteke a dramatic winner, and launches a swift counter attack that sees Juan Mata move into the box. Hennessey is off his line quickly to meet the Spaniard and deserves the good fortune when his block ricochets off the Manchester United substitute and trickles out for a goalkick.

90+1 mins: GOAL! CRYSTAL PALACE 2 MANCHESTER UNITED 3:

Nemanja Matic has won it for Manchester United! A brilliant goal to clinch a brilliant game! Romelu Lukaku's cross from the right was cleared by a tired Crystal Palace defence and fell kindly for the Serbian midfielder 25 yards from goal. Taking a touch with his side foot to control the dropping ball, Matic followed it up with a left-footed volley that swerved away from the outstretched arm of Wayne Hennessey and into the back of the net. It's his first goal for Manchester United, he could not have timed it better!

It's the travelling Manchester United fans that are singing in the far corner of Selhurst Park, having just witnessed a remarkable turnaround that sees their team take all three points and leapfrog Liverpool in returning to second in the table.

For Crystal Palace, many of their players are inconsolable laid out on the pitch, their fans in shock. It means they remain in the relegation zone tonight, but they should have seen enough to know they have the quality to find there way out by the season's end.

I'll say it again, a remarkable turnaround.
