From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In front of a rocking Selhurst Park, Palace took a surprise lead early on after Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius came rushing out of his goal and clattered into an airborne Wilfried Zaha, resulting in referee Neil Swarbrick pointing to the penalty spot.
Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic calmly slotted the ball into the net after Karius dived the wrong way, and the home side held onto the lead until half-time.
But the scores were level soon after the restart, with Sadio Mane getting the Reds back on equal terms. The Senegalese had an eventful afternoon, having already been booked for diving in trying to win a penalty and having a goal ruled out for offside.
With Liverpool growing into the game, it was no surprise to see the Premier League's top goalscorer this season pop up to net the winner as Salah converted from close range to seal the three points.
While Liverpool were overjoyed with the win, they did suffer the loss of Adam Lallana to injury just five minutes after he came on as a second-half substitute, which will give them plenty of concern.
