Irked Frank Lampard explains ‘disappointed’ stance on poor Chelsea performance and second successive defeat

Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was in no mood to sugar-coat the performance level shown by his team after they surrendered a one-goal lead at Wolves and ended up on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline.
The Blues were dominant for an hour and looked comfortably the better side, despite not creating too many clear-cut chances in open play. Kurt Zouma hit the bar and Olivier Giroud went close, before the French striker did finally open the scoring minutes into the second half.
But Wolves were allowed to work their way back into the game and equalised through Daniel Podence, before Pedro Neto won the match five minutes into stoppage time to consign the Blues to a second defeat in four days.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Video after the match, a terse Lampard offered short and sharp answers in relation to his team’s showing and left viewers in no doubt that he viewed the performance level as unacceptable.
“Very disappointed. At 1-0 we should see the game out; not just push on for the second [goal] but if you’re not playing that well, hang on,” he said.
“Play the game, don’t allow counter attacks and we did. The performance is what gives you results and we were playing very well, then maybe the lads [start to] think you’re playing well and then things like [successive defeats] can happen.”
Lampard did praise striker Giroud for continuing his good scoring for, but pointed to the wider performance level in the team as not being consistent enough.
Ahead of the upcoming game against West Ham, Lampard urged his players to reflect on the past few days in an effort to rediscover improved form.
"Oli yeah, he gets another good goal for him but that doesn’t feel like much at the moment.
“For the players it’s to think about the game while they’re resting, think about tonight and Everton. This is the Premier League, if you don’t perform you lose games, now we’ve got a game on Monday.”
