Thomas Tuchel has revealed how Frank Lampard has reached out to wish him good luck at Chelsea after being replaced at Stamford Bridge by the German this week.

The German was forced to settle for a point in his first match in charge of the club after the goalless draw with Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard was sacked 18 months into his managerial reign with Tuchel quickly appointed weeks after being dismissed himself at PSG.

And Tuchel has admitted his respect for his predecessor has grown after discovering a message from him this morning.

"I have the biggest respect for him and his legacy," Tuchel said. “But it just got bigger when I received a message this morning to wish me all the best and maybe meet in the future when it is possible.”

Despite the Blues wielding the axe on their managers regularly over the years, the former Borussia Dortmund boss is not concerned about the policy.

“Yes and no, at this level I am grateful to work at this level. If you sign for chelsea, you sign for the hunger of titles,” Tuchel said. "To be absolutely competitive. I'm aware of that.

"It's like you said, it doesn't scare me, we have big ambitions, I'm excited by the mixture of the team. The structure of the club. The first days were amazing.

“I'm absolutely aware at some point everybody expects results, but I'm doing that of myself all the time.”

Tuchel has also explained his motivation for joining the Blues, insisting the opportunity was too good to miss.

"Why not," he added. "It was the opportunity with one of the biggest clubs in the world in the most competitive league in the world.

"We felt like we should absolutely not miss the chance to join the Chelsea family. It was a pretty easy choice."
