Jose Mourinho has made two big changes to his Chelsea starting line-up after dropping both Thibaut Courtois and Gary Cahill to the bench.
pair had started every Premier League game this season so far, but Mourinho was clearly unimpressed with them after the 5-3 defeat to Tottenham on New Year's Day.
Petr Cech, whose only Premier League appearance came as a substitute against Arsenal, will take over in goal, and young French defender Kurt Zouma starts at centre-back, his first start in the English top flight.
John Terry makes his 648th appearance for the club, bringing him joint-third on Chelsea's all-time list with Frank Lamaprd.
For Newcastle, Tim Krul returns after injury to replace young Jak Alnwick in goal, one of four changes made by John Carver.
Mike Williamson replaces Steven Taylor in defence, Vernon Anita comes in for Cheick Tiote in goal, and Remy Cabella replaces Emmanuel Riviere.
