Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge with his Manchester United side for the first time since being sacked as Blues boss last year.
Moses was signed in 2012 by Roberto Di Matteo but was swiftly sent out on loan by Mourinho upon his return to the club, spending successive seasons at Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham.
However, since Antonio Conte has taken over as Chelsea manager, Moses has had an upturn in form and established himself on the right of the Italian’s 3-4-3 formation.
"He never spoke to me," Moses told ESPN. "I thought in my head, 'He's got his own players already'.
"I think we chatted a couple of times on the phone – he asked if I was alright at Liverpool, but that was it."
Moses impressed during last weekend’s 3-0 win over champions Leicester City and Conte revealed after the game that he had requested the chance to assess the Nigeria international during preseason.
“The manager came to me and said, 'I feel that you're working hard, I really enjoy watching you play and I don't want you to go out on loan'," Moses added.
"When he said that to me I was really pleased. To be honest, I just want to go out there, enjoy my football and work hard for him. He's played the game before, he understands it and he understands how players feel."
