Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In the end Jose Mourinho will be the happier manager after Chelsea and Manchester City played out a tense 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
A scrappy opening period saw few chances but it was the visitors who threatened more, Sergio Aguero missing a great opportunity when put through one on one. Before his injury you'd have backed the striker to score, but it's now five without a goal for him after he fired wide.
Loic Remy broke the deadlock after Branislav Ivanovic found Eden Hazard free on the left to volley a pass first time into the path of the French striker.
But City hit back almost immediately, Thibaut Courtois making a crucial error to mistime a cross that fell to the feet of Aguero. He shot but it needed the crucial touch of David SIlva to guide it past Ivanovic standing on the line.
Chances became even more scarce after the break and with Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas missing, Mourinho opted to shut up shop and hang on for a 1-1 draw to maintain his five point lead at the top of the Premier League.
