From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Ahead of the Premier League meeting between Chelsea and Aston Villa this weekend, we caught up with a couple of fans for their take on the match...

Chelsea fan - Kavan Flavius

Chelsea can’t seem to be able to buy a win at the moment, but a match-up against 18th placed Aston Villa should present us with a good opportunity to get back on track.

Jose Mourinho’s neck is on the line, despite the public backing that he has received from the club. He desperately needs to string a few victories together and with Diego Costa available for selection once more, the Portuguese should be hopeful.

We will be without Branislav Ivanovic, though, which may very well be a blessing in disguise. The right-back’s form has been an absolute disaster this season, but he seemed untouchable in spite of his poor showing. Having picked up an injury during the break, the Serbian will surely be spending a few games out, much to the delight of every single Chelsea supporter.

Our home form isn’t great right now, but we should be able to dispatch a lowly Villa side. I expect a 2-1 victory.

Chelsea v Aston Villa - Premier League Preview

Aston Villa - Crippy Cooke

Despite Chelsea’s poor start to the season, there’s no best time to play them as an Aston Villa supporter. We’ve been on the wrong side of thrashings down the years at Stamford Bridge - losing 7-0 in 2010 and 8-0 in 2012 - and our own recent form has been even worse than theirs ahead of Saturday's meeting.

A severe lack of goals in the league and no clean sheet since the opening day, the Champions should be licking their lips ahead of our arrival to the Bridge this weekend. This could be the game that sees Chelsea get back to form at our expense, plummeting Aston Villa further down the table and sparking rumours of an impending exit for manager Tim Sherwood.

His counterpart Jose Mourinho has won five and drawn one of six league meetings against Villa at the Bridge. I’m fearful the trend will continue on Saturday.
