Chelsea have had themselves a good season, which could yet turn into an excellent one if they win the FA Cup.

A top-four finish means Frank Lampard hit his biggest objective and a piece of silverware to go with it would see optimism for 2020/21 through the roof at Stamford Bridge—particularly in light of summer business.

The Blues have already wrapped up deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner and more are ahead for a team with ambitions to challenge at the top once again.

The club appear more than prepared to spend heavily this summer, with defensive reinforcements still on the wish list.

Here are all the latest rumours and transfer news stories regarding Chelsea and the transfer window ahead.

Ben Chilwell will tell his club this week that he wants to leave Leicester City and join Chelsea. The England international has been seen by some as the Blues’ first-choice target for the position this summer, but he’ll come with a hefty transfer fee. Even so, the Mirror report that Chilwell is basing his decision on where he wants to be five years from now, including the first pick at international level for the Euros next summer.

Chelsea boss Lampard also wants a new face in goal. Sky Sports say he has a three-man shortlist for the position: Jan Oblak, Andre Onana and Nick Pope. While Oblak is widely regarded as one of the top two or three goalkeepers in the world, Atletico Madrid will not sell willingly and the Blues would have to pay his £110 million release clause. Ajax are more open to selling Onana, though, and he’d be a far cheaper acquisition.

While any of the three replacements would be a new No. 1, Chelsea also need to offload current record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spanish stopper has been a huge disappointment and the Mail say Chelsea are willing to take a hit to sell him – but they still want £50 million back. A loan is also a possibility, and a more realistic-seeming one considering Kepa has been dropped three times by the Blues in his two years at the club for poor form.

For defensive recruits, Chelsea are reportedly looking at Germany and the Bundesliga. Kicker link the Blues with Borussia Moenchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter, after an excellent campaign saw him help the Foals finish in the Champions League spots. BMG aren’t keen to sell, but Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are also credited with interest.

And finally, Arsenal and Chelsea will go head-to-head twice over the coming weeks; once in the FA Cup final and then again in trying to sign Nahitan Nandez from Cagliari, according to Corriere dello Sport. The Uruguayan has had a stand-out campaign in Italy in his defensive midfield role.
