Gonzalo Higuain could make his debut in Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.

Higuain signed on loan from Juventus until the end of the season, with further options, on Wednesday, but was ineligible for Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-final success over Tottenham.

Changes are likely, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be available following a back problem, but Alvaro Morata is not likely to be considered, with a move imminent, and Victor Moses has departed for Fenerbahce.

Sarri admitted his delight at beating Spurs to face Manchester City in the final, insisting they had rediscovered their enthusiasm again.

“In the last three or four matches, we had problems,” he said. “One was the motivation, and the other problem was that the players stopped having fun on the pitch.

“So I think that now, with this performance and the result, we can find enthusiasm again. So it’s very important.

“My players reacted really well tonight, but we need to have motivation with continuity now. We played with another mind. With another motivation. With another determination.”
