Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea will be without Diego Costa and Eden Hazard when they host rivals West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The striker is suspended after his red card against Everton in the FA Cup defeat last week, a game Hazard missed because of an ongoing hip problem.
Speaking about Costa, interim manager Guus Hiddink said: "His mood is… he desperately likes to play. He accepts he’s suspended and not happy with that."
Chelsea are without Kurt Zouma for the rest of the season, while Radamel Falcao is back in training but not expected to play.
Loan signing Alexandre Pato is still to make his debut and is available to start in place of Costa, but Hiddink has shown in recent weeks that he views Bertrand Traore and Loic Remy as better options.
Hiddink confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Pato will stay at the club until the end of the season, despite rumours linking the striker with a return to Brazil earlier this week.
