Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Chelsea captain was previously pictured doing the same thing back in 2008, with an aide promisingh it would not happen again.
The picture, published in the Mirror on Sunday, shows the 34-year-old leaving the kebab shop in Esher, Surrey, and getting back into his modified Range Rover, reported to be worth £200,000.
Terry is yet to comment on the picture. Back in 2008, Terry left his Bentley parked outside a Pizza Express, also in Esher.
The former England captain was again on the bench as Chelsea struggled to a 2-2 draw at St James' Park, where they needed two goals in the final 11 minutes to rescue a draw against Newcastle, a team still without a win this season.
Kurt Zouma and Branislav Ivanovic were at fault for the first goal, when neither cleared a cross, allowing Ayoze Perez to control the ball and fire past Asmir Begovic.
Chelsea travel to Jose Mourinho's former side on Tuesday evening for their second Champions League tie and face Southampton at home on Saturday.
