From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Much of the pre-match talk had been of the fued between managers Jose Mourino and Arsene Wenger. The pair endured a brief handshake before the game but the 'needle' remained on the pitch.
Tensions boiled over just before half-time when a clash between Diego Costa and Gabriel Paulista resulted in both players being awarded yellow cards.
In the aftermath, coaxed by the Spain striker, Gabriel appeared to scrape his studs down Costa's shin and consequently received his marching orders.
A Kurt Zouma goal after the break put the home side ahead and, from then on, their lead never looked in danger.
Santi Cazorla became the second Arsenal to see red with a reckless, needless and late challenge on Cesc Fabregas, which earned him a second booking.
Eden Hazard rounded off the win in the last minute, scoring with a deflected shot off Calum Chambers.
Just how poor was Arsenal's performance? Did Chelsea bounce back after their sluggish start?
