Cesc Fabregas could be fit in time to play West Brom on Saturday after he trained with the first-team on Friday.

The Chelsea midfielder had to pull out of the Spain squad last week after suffering a slight hamstring problem against Liverpool - Fabregas did not tear the muscle but playing in Spain's two matches could have caused further injury.

Jose Mourinho said that a decision was still to be made on whether the 27-year-old will play at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues' manager also announced that Andre Schurrle will return, while Diego Costa is "totally recovered" after Vicente del Bosque opted to leave him out of the squad to rest; teenager Nathan Ake is the only player definitely out.

"Nathan Ake is injured, he hurt his hamstring with the [Dutch] national team and will be out for a few weeks," said Mourinho.

"Diego Costa is totally recovered, the same as Schurrle. Fabregas trained with the team today but it was a very simple session. We will make a decision and hopefully he can play as it’s an important game.

"Ramires can play, it's a bit like the Liverpool game in that he’s not in very good condition, but he’s improving so he can play."
