The former Arsenal player was the man-of-the-match as Chelsea won 1-0 and with it put a huge dent in the Gunners' title tilt.
He was mercilessly booed throughout the game by the home supporters, many of whom are resentful of their former captain for returning to the Premier League with one of their fiercest rivals. That animosity stems from Fabregas memorably declaring "once a Gunner, always a Gunner" when he left the Emirates for Barcelona.
As Fabregas walked towards the tunnel after the match, he was filmed tapping the Chelsea crest on his shirt and beating his chest while looking up towards the stands.
While the actions of the Spain international will have angered Arsenal fans, in contrast Chelsea supporters will have been delighted, so much so the club even posted an image of the incident on their official Snapchat profile.
Fabregas, whose performances have been criticised this season, spoke after the match about his improving form.
"I’m nearly there, I think I’m feeling very sharp I think my brain is much quicker than maybe the last few months," he told Sky Sports.
"I struggled for a little but I don’t know really why but the sharpness is back. I feel that under pressure I’m much more in control I’m not shaky.
"My team-mates made it always easier for me, but definitely in the last year probably I’m in the best form right now.”
