Fabregas has provided the spark for the Blues this season, having completed a £30m transfer from Barcelona last summer, and he leads the assists chart in the Premier League this season having laid on 17 goals for his Chelsea team-mates.
27-year-old Fabregas made his Premier League debut for Arsenal back in 2004, but despite playing for the Gunners for seven years, he was unable to secure a league triumph and had to wait until he returned to Barcelona to pick up his first in the form of the La Liga.
And now that the Spain international can tick off the Premier League box on his impressive résumé, he is desperate to land his first Champions League crown having missed out when Arsenal lost the 2006 final.
"The Premier League has always been a trophy that I wanted to get in my career. Hopefully it will be the first of many," Fabregas told Chelsea TV after the 1-0 victory over Palace that meant Chelsea could no longer be caught at the top of the table.
"I hope the future holds many trophies, many Premier Leagues, Champions Leagues and hopefully we can start building a fantastic team that next year can fight for the Premier League and Champions League.
"It feels great. It's the feeling that I really wanted to get. It's a special moment, a special trophy. The most difficult league in the world, so very proud."
Fabregas believes the remarkable consistency that Chelsea have shown this season – which has seen them lead from the third round of fixtures – is the key reason behind why their rivals are so far off in the title race. Having led the way for 254 days, Chelsea will pass the record for most consecutive days’ led set by United’s title-winning side of 1993/94 next Wednesday.
The midfielder added: "The consistency has been key. We didn't allow other teams to get on top of us and to make us doubt ourselves.
"We never game them any chance, really. It's been probably one of the best Premier Leagues that a team can have."
Fabregas was also quick to pay tribute to the man who brought him to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. Having rivalled the Portuguese in the El Clasico when Fabregas was playing for the Catalan side as Mourinho managed rivals Real Madrid, Fabregas wanted to praise him as “a real winner”, having secured the third Premier League trophy of his career.
"I can understand the pressure he's under,” said Fabregas. “He's the best manager and he has to get results and he always manages to do that.
"With any squad he's been with he's always managed to get results, to get his team to be champion and that's the sign of a real winner, a real professional."
