Burnley host Aston Villa in the Premier League this evening as Dean Smith’s side look to maintain their hopes of a European place this season.
The Villans have been in tremendous form thus far and are firmly within reach of the top four, boasting two games in hand over most of their closest rivals. They did suffer a minor blip in recent weeks, losing three out of four games in all competitions, but those defeats came against Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, and that poor run was put to bed with a 2-0 win over Newcastle last time out.
Ollie Watkins ended his goal drought in that victory and Villa’s new signings continue to impress, with Emiliano Martinez, Matty Cash and Bertrand Traore all continuing to flourish. The game will come too early for Morgan Sanson, who joins Villa for £15.5m from Marseille.
Meanwhile, Burnley have enjoyed a brilliant revival of their own, with Sean Dyche once again working wonders despite a limited budget. A 1-0 victory over champions Liverpool last week was followed by a comfortable 3-0 victory over Fulham in the FA Cup as Jay Rodriguez scored for the first time since July last year.
