From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Everton are enjoying a rich vein of form at the moment, having dropped just two points from their first five games of the season. The Toffees remain unbeaten in the league and have drawn a lot for praise for their promising start.
Although the wind was taken out of Everton’s sails following a shock midweek defeat to Norwich in the EFL Cup, the Merseyside club will still pose a considerable challenge for Eddie Howe’s men.
As for Bournemouth, the Cherries sit fourth from bottom after managing just one win from their opening five matches.
Howe’s side were thumped 4-0 by Manchester City last weekend and were knocked out of the EFL Cup three days later by Championship side Preston North End. Even with Jack Wilshere among their ranks, it’s been a slow start for the south coast club.
It’s a big game for…
Jack Wilshere. The Arsenal loanee made his first start under Eddie Howe against Pep Guardiola’s side but was deprived of the ball for most of the match as his side were blown away by The Citizens.
He’ll be hoping to dictate more of the game in Saturday’s fixture as he looks to get his career back on track at the Vitality Stadium. He's in desperate need of a stellar performance to boost his confidence but he's yet to have been given the chance to do so.
Remember when…
The two sides met for the first time in a league fixture at Goodison Park? Leighton Baines grabbed the winning goal last April to settle the score at 2-1 and hand all three points to Everton.
Player to watch out for…
Romelu Lukaku. Although the striker missed Everton’s midweek cup defeat by Norwich, the Belgian has been on top form lately. He’s scored four goals in his last two games and, should he start, Bournemouth’s backline will have their hands full in keeping the 23-year-old under wraps for the entirety of the match.
