Mark Bosnich has launched an appeal against the Premier League ruling that he was not unfairly dismissed by Chelsea after his positive drugs test for cocaine.
The 31-year-old Australian goalkeeper notified the League hours before Tuesday night's expiry of the seven-day period he had to appeal after last Tuesday's verdict.
Bosnich, who reportedly claims he failed the drugs test because a drink had been spiked without his knowledge, will have his appeal heard within the next fortnight.
Bosnich, who tested positive for cocaine in November and received treatment for depression at the Priory Clinic in Roehampton, south London, was initially suspended without pay by Chelsea before the club issued a 14-day notice period terminating his contract, insisting he had breached the terms of his employment under Premier League rules.
