Bacary Sagna, whose contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, will reportedly reject the club’s offer of a one-year extension and leave on a free transfer next summer.
According to The Daily Mail, the right-back has been preparing his exit, and, at the age of 30, he has acknowledged that this could be the last major contract of his career.
Sagna was reportedly upset with the club last season, after negotiations started on his contract extension - but on the same £60,000 per week terms as the deal he signed with the Gunners in 2008.
The Frenchman, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, joined Arsenal from Auxerre in 2007, and has made a total of 246 appearances for the club in all competitions. He is now in his seventh season at the Emirates Stadium and has always been Arsene Wenger’s first-choice right back.
Though Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Flamini can play in the position, it has been reported that the club are already searching for Sagna’s replacement.
