Your support makes all the difference.Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood's wish to add more firepower to his squad is set to be granted with the loan signing of Emmanuel Adebayor while talks are also ongoing with £7m Blackburn striker Rudy Gestede.
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss has been busy in the summer transfer window, signing seven players including Micah Richards and Jordan Ayew, but he remains in the hunt for a new strikeforce after losing Christian Benteke to Liverpool for £32.5m.
Togo international Adebayor, 31, had a medical with the Midlands club yesterday and is poised to be announced as a Villa player before the weekend.
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Gestede was in Birmingham on Saturday to discuss a possible move to Villa Park and negotiations have been positive, with betting also being suspended on the 6ft 4ins striker joining the Premier League outfit.
The Rovers man scored 34 times in 65 appearances for the Championship side but manager Gary Bowyer has been unable to mount a serious promotion challenge in recent times.
Gestede is expected to return to the second city in the coming days to complete a medical of his own while the two clubs have agreed a fee in the region of £7m.
Sherwood has already added Scott Sinclair, Richards, Mark Bunn, Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye and Ayew to his ranks but is yet to replace new Manchester City signing Fabian Delph in the centre of midfield.
Nantes midfielder Jordan Veretout is one option but Villa will have to fight off a late challenge from Leicester City to secure his services.
The Foxes have offered substantially more for the French midfielder but, according to Nantes president Waldemar Kita, he is prepared to lose money if it means Veretout fulfilling his ambitions to join Sherwood at Villa.
"He has made his choice, and I am going to go in his direction," Kita said.
"They (Aston Villa) are haggling on certain details. They need to be careful because if they continue to haggle they might lose the player from right under their noses. They have until this evening to take a decision.
"I'm set to lose €5m. I would have never thought I would have done anything other than try to raise the price, but I am not going to go against the boy. He is a boy who has never done us wrong, who played the game right until the end, contrary to others, who did not sulk."
