Arsenal have made two changes for the Premier League visit of Sunderland with both enforced by the injuries suffered by Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez.

Cazorla is feared to have suffered a ruptured knee ligament during last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Norwich, and could be sidelined until March, while Sanchez is not expected to play again this year having picked up a hamstring injury in the same match.

With Cazorla ruled out, Aaron Ramsey switches to a central position with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming into the side, himself only just returning from a hamstring strain, while Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell replaces Sanchez.

Sunderland make three changes to the side that beat Stoke 2-0 last weekend as Jermain Defoe, Lee Cattermole and Sebastian Larsson are ruled out with injury. In their place come Ola Toivonen, Duncan Watmore and Fabio Borini, with the former Liverpool striker fit again after injury.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone is named on the Black Cats substitutes’ bench, while Theo Walcott returns from injury to feature among Arsenal’s replacements.
