Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger defended himself this week after his decision to drop Cech for David Ospina in the 3-2 Champions League defeat by Olympiakos.
Wenger had threatened to walk out of his press conference this week afer being quizzed on his call to rest Cech and bring in Ospina.
"I have two world-class goalkeepers. Do not come always back with that same story," Wenger said on Friday.
"I think you lack a bit creativity in the press, you all follow a bandwagon that is very, very, very, very boring.
"Look, stop that story, or we stop the press conference. If you question Ospina, I question your knowledge of football.
"It's depressing. Yes, the goalkeeper made a mistake, but we could still have won the game."
"We learn from victory and we learn from defeat. There are three points between the teams [Arsenal and United], we play at home in a big game. We have just come from a big win at Leicester and we want to continue our run."
Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Monreal; Coquelin, Cazorla; Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez; Walcott.
