Manchester City will be without midfielder Fernando and striker Stevan Jovetic for this weekend's Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Fernando limped out of the surprise loss to Stoke a fortnight ago with a groin injury and also looks likely to miss key encounters with Bayern Munich and Chelsea in the next week.

Jovetic, who has impressed in the early part of the season and scored twice against Liverpool last month, suffered a hamstring injury while away with Montenegro last week.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini, speaking at a press conference to preview Saturday's trip the Emirates Stadium, said: "We have injured Fernando - he has a massive problem, maybe a couple of weeks more, and also Stevan Jovetic. He come back from his national team with a problem in his hamstring. I hope Stevan could be fit next week, thought I am not sure."

New £32million defender Eliaquim Mangala and former England midfielder Frank Lampard could be in line for debuts.

Neither Mangala, signed from Porto last month, nor Lampard, who is on loan from sister club New York City, have yet featured due to a general lack of match fitness.

Pellegrini said: "Both of them are ready, but I can't say which games they will play or if they will play."

Pellegrini reported no other injury concerns within his squad, with captain Vincent Kompany coming through Belgium's friendly against Australia, despite concerns over a calf problem.

Pellegrini said: "Vincent played 90 minutes for his national team and he has worked normally with the squad during the week here, so he doesn't have any problems."
