From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Gunners currently have the most expensive season ticket in the division at £2,013 and the Emirates Stadium also has the priciest lowest season ticket, coming in at £1,014.
But, for the seventh time in 11 years, Arsenal have said they will not put prices up, with chief executive Ivan Gazidis aiming for a continuation of regular sell-outs.
"We have incredible home support with sell-out crowds for every game," he told arsenal.com
"This decision reflects our on-going aim to maintain a fair and balanced approach to our ticket pricing."
The Emirates Stadium is currently the biggest club football stadium in London but will be surpassed when the new home of local rivals Tottenham opens close to their current White Hart Lane ground.
Ticket pricing throughout English football has been a hot topic in recent years and last October a number of Bayern Munich fans boycotted the first five minutes of their Champions League tie at the Emirates Stadium over the £64 they were charged to attend.
