From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

84 per cent of Arsenal fans have either agreed or strongly agreed that Arsene Wenger is the right man to manage Arsenal.

The Frenchman has received his highest approval rating in the annual poll of fans by the Arsenal Supporters' Trust.

The full AST survey will be released later on today.

After a barren nine years without a trophy, it was looking bleak for Wenger, but after back-to-back FA Cup triumphs he is now clearly loved again by the Gunners' faithful.

Wenger has won nine major honours with Arsenal, three Premier League titles and six FA Cups.

The Gunners won the annual curtain raiser to the season, the Community Shield, with a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the only goal of the game, cutting inside Chelsea left-back Cesar Azpilicueta to score in the 24th minute.

Wenger had not beaten a Blues side managed by Jose Mourinho in 13 previous attempts.

After the match, the Arsenal manager said: "It was important for the team to get that hurdle out of the way.

"For me? No, because it is Arsenal versus Chelsea, it is not the two managers. It is two teams who play against each other."
