Coronavirus: Arsenal players Pepe, Lacazette, Xhaka and Luiz caught ignoring lockdown rules
The quartet were all spotted not following government advice
Four Arsenal players have become the latest to have been caught breaching government guidelines on social distancing.
The coronavirus pandemic has forced Premier League footballers – and everyone else – inside with mass gatherings banned and recommendations over the amount of exercise people can do in public.
Nicolas Pepe, Granit Xhaka, David Luiz and Alexandre Lacazette were all spotted not following government advice.
Club-record signing Pepe was seen playing football with as many as a dozen friends while French international striker Lacazette was spotted close to a car valeter on his own driveway.
Meanwhile, Xhaka and Luiz were seen together in north London.
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’ll be speaking to our players,” a club spokesman told The Sun.
“We were concerned so we have spoken to Nicolas who shares a house with a number of relatives who were involved in this game.
“We have reminded him of the importance of everyone following the guidelines.”
The incidents come to light shortly after Tottenham duo Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko were themselves forced to apologise for breaking government guidelines after training together.
Manager Jose Mourinho had to do the same earlier this month after conducting a mini training session in a public park and failing to follow social distancing measures.
Manchester City defender Kyle Walker hosted a ‘sex party’ at his house during the lockdown while Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish was forced to he went to a friend’s house after crashing his car in the early hours of the morning.
