14 players made debuts at their new clubs this weekend

Anthony Martial ended up getting all the deserved headlines, but he was one of 14 players to make his first appearance in new colours this weekend.

The virtually unknown teenager, whose transfer had been hugely criticised as he came with a mammoth price-tag, climbed off the bench at Old Trafford to score a stunning solo goal against Liverpool.

As far as debuts go, it couldn't have gone much better.

Here's how the rest got on this weekend (alphabetical):

Fabio Borini (Sunderland) - 5/10

His second debut for the club, Borini was typically industrious but lacked quality when the Black Cats attacked, and he faded badly.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 9/10

Came off the bench to replace Sergio Aguero, City were already missing David Silva and Raheem Sterling. But in a tough spot against a good Crystal Palace, the Belgian proved why he cost £55m, putting in a man of the match performance that included some stunning vision and passing.

Nathan Dyer (Leicester City) - 8/10

Like Martial, Dyer enjoyed a superb cameo that helped his new club win three points. He looked direct and dangerous as the Foxes threw everyone forward and came up with the decisive goal, heading home an extremely brave header that left him in a heap on the floor.

Jonny Evans (West Brom) - 7/10

Very solid debut for the former Manchester United centre-back who helped the Baggies claim a point against Southampton.

Rogelio Funes Mori (Everton) - 6/10

Only a 13 minute cameo as the Toffees stunned the Champions, the Argentinian looked comfortable on the ball and made a couple of clearances.

Matt Jarvis (Norwich) - 8/10

Wes Hoolahan was the star but the former West Ham man played his part, impressing down the right wing and getting on the scoresheet.

Aaron Lennon (Everton) - 7/10

When motivated the winger is always an extremely dangerous handful and had a hand in Steven Naismith's hat-trick goal.

Joleon Lescott (Aston Villa) - 5/10

Won't take hard any individual blame for any of the three goals as Villa threw away a two goal lead as Tim Sherwood's team crumbled under immense Leicester pressure. Perhaps more could have been expected from the former England defender to galvanise his inexperienced team-mates.

Dieumerci Mbokani (Norwich City) - N/A

Came on with eight minutes to go when the game was already well over.

Glenn Murray (Bournemouth) - 4/10

He entered the game with Norwich well on top and already two goals up, he never got a chance as the Cherries were outplayed at Carrow Road.

Divock Origi (Liverpool) - 4/10

A year after being signed, the young Belgian finally got his first minutes in a Red shirt. Came on and played (out of position) on the left wing but was a passenger.

Son Heung-min (Tottenham) - 5/10

Didn't completely go to plan, although he showed some nice touched and invention. Playing as a No 10, the South Korean struggled to get into the game; his delivery was poor throughout and when he finally got a chance he produced a wild air-kick and missed. Taken off after 62minutes.

Virgil van Dijk (Southampton) - 8/10

A masterfully controlled performance from the £13m defender that was dubbed 'perfect' by manager Ronald Koeman - can't get much better than that, although a victory would have been preferred.
