Angel Di Maria injury latest: Argentina international set to play in Manchester United vs Chelsea match

The winger appears to be winning the race to be ready for Sunday

Angel Di Maria is expected to be fit for the Premier League meeting between Manchester United and Chelsea this weekend.

The Argentine, who has made a huge impact since his British transfer record move to Old Trafford over the summer, suffered a kick to the thigh during the 2-2 draw with West Brom on Monday night.

The kick forced Di Maria off at the Hawthorns and there have since been concerns over his availability for Sunday's game against the Premier League leaders.

However, it's understood that the £59.7m signing has been largely untroubled by the injury during training this week and went into the club's training ground on a squad day off on Wednesday to boost his chances of being ready.

The news will be welcomed by Louis van Gaal as he prepares for the biggest examination of his Manchester United tenure.

After a difficult start to the season, United have been picking up results and find themselves sixth in the table heading into the match, however they are already 10 points behind Chelsea. Defeat at Old Trafford and few will give them any hope of catching Jose Mourinho's side.
