Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is a major doubt for Chile's World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay tonight after picking up a calf strain.
"Alexis has a pain in his calf and we will wait for him until the last minute to see if he is ready to play," Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli revealed.
The Gunners face West Brom in the Premier League on Saturday, and then Dinamo Zagreb three days later in the Champions League. Gunners' manager Arsene Wenger will be hopeful that the 26-year-old will be back then.
Earlier this week, Wenger said he could hand Sanchez a mid-season break, after the forward's excursions for Chile at the Copa America, when they won the competition.
The Gunners sit second in the Premier League table, behind Manchester City on goal difference.
Sanchez has scored 10 goals in 20 appearances for club and country this season, as he continues his fine form from last term.
